Privacy Policy

Effective Date: September 30, 2026

Welcome to IntermediateGuitar.com (“Website”, “we”, “us”, or “our”). Your privacy is important to us. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you visit our website, use our tools, sign up for our newsletter, or interact with our advertising. By using the Website, you agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy.

1. Information We Collect

a. Information you provide to us. Personal information you voluntarily provide, including your name and email address (e.g., when subscribing to our newsletter, opting into free downloads, or contacting us), and any other personal data you choose to submit via forms or direct communication.

b. Automatically collected information. When you visit the Website we automatically collect:

  • IP address, browser type and settings, and device information
  • Pages viewed and referring website URLs
  • Time spent on pages, clicks, and similar usage data

c. Cookies and tracking technologies. We and our partners use cookies, pixels, and similar technologies to run the site, remember your preferences, measure traffic, and serve and measure ads. You can disable cookies through your browser settings, though some functionality may be limited.

2. How We Use Your Information

  • Send newsletters and updates you’ve opted into
  • Deliver and personalize content and advertising
  • Analyze usage and improve our Website, tools, and services
  • Respond to inquiries and support requests
  • Comply with legal obligations

3. Advertising

Display advertising. We display ads on this Website through Mediavine and its advertising partners (including Google). These partners use cookies and similar technologies to collect information about your visits here and on other sites in order to serve and measure ads, including interest-based ads. The details Mediavine requires us to share are in the section “Mediavine Programmatic Advertising” below.

Facebook / Meta. We use Meta Ads (Facebook and Instagram) to promote our content and courses and to measure how our ads perform. Our course pages (intermediateguitar.com/learn) use the Meta Pixel, and our server also sends Meta a record of key actions through the Meta Conversions API: when you sign up for a free lesson, start a checkout, or buy a course (including the order amount). To match these actions to Meta accounts, we may send your email address in a scrambled (hashed) form, along with your IP address and browser details. We never send your card details. Meta may use this information to measure our ads, show you ads based on your visit, and build “Custom” or “Lookalike” audiences. You can manage this through your Facebook Ad Settings.

Your ad choices. You can opt out of interest-based advertising from participating companies at the Digital Advertising Alliance and the Network Advertising Initiative. See also Section 9 for your rights to opt out of a “sale” or “sharing” of your information.

Mediavine Programmatic Advertising (Ver 1.1)

The Website works with Mediavine to manage third-party interest-based advertising appearing on the Website. Mediavine serves content and advertisements when you visit the Website, which may use first and third-party cookies. A cookie is a small text file which is sent to your computer or mobile device (referred to in this policy as a “device”) by the web server so that a website can remember some information about your browsing activity on the Website.

First party cookies are created by the website that you are visiting. A third-party cookie is frequently used in behavioral advertising and analytics and is created by a domain other than the website you are visiting. Third-party cookies, tags, pixels, beacons and other similar technologies (collectively, “Tags”) may be placed on the Website to monitor interaction with advertising content and to target and optimize advertising. Each internet browser has functionality so that you can block both first and third-party cookies and clear your browser’s cache. The “help” feature of the menu bar on most browsers will tell you how to stop accepting new cookies, how to receive notification of new cookies, how to disable existing cookies and how to clear your browser’s cache. For more information about cookies and how to disable them, you can consult the information at All About Cookies.

Without cookies you may not be able to take full advantage of the Website content and features. Please note that rejecting cookies does not mean that you will no longer see ads when you visit our Site. In the event you opt-out, you will still see non-personalized advertisements on the Website.

The Website collects the following data using a cookie when serving personalized ads:

  • IP Address
  • Operating System type
  • Operating System version
  • Device Type
  • Language of the website
  • Web browser type
  • Email (in hashed form)

Mediavine Partners (companies listed below with whom Mediavine shares data) may also use this data to link to other end user information the partner has independently collected to deliver targeted advertisements. Mediavine Partners may also separately collect data about end users from other sources, such as advertising IDs or pixels, and link that data to data collected from Mediavine publishers in order to provide interest-based advertising across your online experience, including devices, browsers and apps. This data includes usage data, cookie information, device information, information about interactions between users and advertisements and websites, geolocation data, traffic data, and information about a visitor’s referral source to a particular website. Mediavine Partners may also create unique IDs to create audience segments, which are used to provide targeted advertising.

If you would like more information about this practice and to know your choices to opt-in or opt-out of this data collection, please visit National Advertising Initiative opt out page. You may also visit Digital Advertising Alliance website and Network Advertising Initiative website to learn more information about interest-based advertising. You may download the AppChoices app at Digital Advertising Alliance’s AppChoices app to opt out in connection with mobile apps, or use the platform controls on your mobile device to opt out.

For specific information about Mediavine Partners, the data each collects and their data collection and privacy policies, please visit Mediavine Partners.

4. Analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors find and use our Website so we can improve it. Google Analytics uses cookies and collects information such as pages visited, time on site, approximate location, and device/browser details, and may set its own identifiers. This information is processed by Google. To learn how Google uses data, see the Google Privacy Policy. You can opt out of Google Analytics across sites using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

5. Email Marketing

If you subscribe to our newsletter or opt into a download, we use your email to send you updates, lessons, and offers. Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can opt out at any time. We use an email service provider to send and manage these messages.

6. Online Courses, Purchases & Our Guitar Quiz

Courses and purchases. When you buy a course, we collect your name, email address and order details. Payments are processed by Stripe, and we never see or store your full card number. Stripe’s use of your information is covered by the Stripe Privacy Policy. We keep a record of your purchases, your course access, and your activity in the course area (such as logins, lessons viewed and lessons completed) so we can deliver the course, help you, and handle refunds and payment disputes. If you dispute a payment, we may share these records with Stripe and your bank.

Course accounts and page measurement. Our course area uses a cookie to keep you logged in. On our course sales pages, we also measure how visitors use the page, for example how far they scroll and how much of a lesson video they watch, using a random identifier stored in your browser, not your name or email. Course videos are hosted by Bunny.net.

Our guitar quiz. If you take our guitar quiz, we collect your email address and your answers (for example how long you’ve played, your age range, the gear you own, and what you’re planning to buy). We use your answers to recommend a lesson or course, to send you emails that fit your answers, and to understand our audience. We may share combined, anonymous statistics with brands and sponsors (for example, “40% of our readers plan to buy a guitar this year”). We never sell or share your email address or your individual answers.

7. Affiliate Links & Monetization

Some links on this Website are affiliate links, including through the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program and other affiliate networks. If you click an affiliate link and make a purchase, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. These programs may use cookies to attribute purchases. We only recommend products we believe are genuinely useful to guitarists.

8. How We Share Information

We work with advertising and analytics partners (such as Mediavine and its advertising partners, Google, and Meta) who collect information through our Website as described above. Under certain U.S. state privacy laws, allowing these partners to collect data may be considered a “sale” or “sharing” of personal information. You can exercise your choices about this as described in Section 9. We may also share information to comply with the law, protect our rights, or with service providers who help us operate the Website, such as our payment processor (Stripe), our email provider, and our video host (Bunny.net).

9. Your Privacy Rights & Choices

Depending on where you live (including California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, and other U.S. states), you may have the right to:

  • Know and access the personal information we hold about you
  • Correct inaccurate personal information
  • Delete your personal information
  • Opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of your personal information, and of targeted (interest-based) advertising
  • Not be discriminated against for exercising these rights

Global Privacy Control (GPC). We honor the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal. If you visit our Website with a browser or extension that sends a GPC signal, we treat it as a request to opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of your personal information for that browser.

How to exercise your rights. To make a request, email us at [email protected]. We may need to verify your identity before responding.

10. Data Security

We use reasonable measures to protect your information, but no method of transmission or storage is completely secure. Please use the Website at your own risk.

11. Third-Party Links

Our Website may contain links to external websites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of other sites, and we encourage you to read their privacy policies.

12. Children’s Privacy

Our Website is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.

13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Continued use of the Website after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
